mist rose to greet her
branches beckoned, an inviting canopy
mood match she thought
vaporous vines, vaporous lives
a New Year of empty promises
as if 60 seconds held wishes
like a bottled genie
no fairy tale, a minute in time
all remains the same, her name
drizzled in the cloud
cold numbing awaits
a release to the pain, a surrender of self
her crumpled up list of resolutions
fluttered on the ground
as she embraced the haze
(Participating in Jenny Matlock's Saturday Centus which I have missed for way too long)
Wonderful. So poignant!
ReplyDeleteWhimsically wonderful! I adored this so very much on so many levels! I am currently embracing my "haze" so this prose reads quiet significant to me. My favorite line? "Cold numbing awaits a release to the pain, a surrender of self" Perfectly penned!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written, but I feel a great sadness in this.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the way this flows off the page. I cannot say I fully understand, but is that not the case with good poetry? Peace and blessings
ReplyDeleteThis was lovely and so haunting. Beautifully written centus.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for coming by & your kind comments!
ReplyDelete@ Jeff - sometimes I don't fully understand what comes out of my pen either:) often more of a feeling than anything else
Kaelin ... geez, I have read this several times ... and i feel somewhat the same as Jeff ... i'm not to sure i understand but i feel somewhat haunted by these words ... there is beauty ... it has left me searching ... and that is a very good thing!
ReplyDeleteI feel confusion and hesitancy in this nice poem. There is also the hint of hope. Well done!

I really enjoyed this and particularly liked...
ReplyDelete"a New Year of empty promises

Lovely writing, it has an ethereal, dreamlike feel to it. Nice writing. :-)
Such a sad poem. It works, though.
ReplyDeleteNIce job.
=)
What a very thoughtful and poignant piece! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love the words. It sounds beautiful. But I am not sure I understand it. Oh well. Good poetry is not meant to be rationally understood; it's meant to be felt! Feels like a dream!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Anna
