Saturday Centus

mist rose to greet her

branches beckoned, an inviting canopy

mood match she thought

vaporous vines, vaporous lives

a New Year of empty promises

as if 60 seconds held wishes

like a bottled genie

no fairy tale, a minute in time

all remains the same, her name

drizzled in the cloud

cold numbing awaits

a release to the pain, a surrender of self

her crumpled up list of resolutions

fluttered on the ground

as she embraced the haze

(Participating in Jenny Matlock's Saturday Centus which I have missed for way too long)

  1. Whimsically wonderful! I adored this so very much on so many levels! I am currently embracing my "haze" so this prose reads quiet significant to me. My favorite line? "Cold numbing awaits a release to the pain, a surrender of self" Perfectly penned!

  2. Beautifully written, but I feel a great sadness in this.

  3. Wow! I love the way this flows off the page. I cannot say I fully understand, but is that not the case with good poetry? Peace and blessings

  4. This was lovely and so haunting. Beautifully written centus.

  5. Thank you all for coming by & your kind comments!
@ Jeff - sometimes I don't fully understand what comes out of my pen either:) often more of a feeling than anything else

  6. Kaelin ... geez, I have read this several times ... and i feel somewhat the same as Jeff ... i'm not to sure i understand but i feel somewhat haunted by these words ... there is beauty ... it has left me searching ... and that is a very good thing!

  7. I feel confusion and hesitancy in this nice poem. There is also the hint of hope. Well done!

  8. I really enjoyed this and particularly liked...

"a New Year of empty promises

as if 60 seconds held wishes

    like a bottled genie

no fairy tale, a minute in time"

Lovely writing, it has an ethereal, dreamlike feel to it. Nice writing. :-)

  9. Such a sad poem. It works, though.

    NIce job.

  10. What a very thoughtful and poignant piece! Well done!

  11. I love the words. It sounds beautiful. But I am not sure I understand it. Oh well. Good poetry is not meant to be rationally understood; it's meant to be felt! Feels like a dream!
    Best wishes,

Please don't change anything in this text because I don't get it. It's late. I'm tired. I'll try to read it again tomorrow!
