Storyboards

I have pieces of Shayla's story scattered throughout journals, writing pads, napkins - how cliche' :) - & my computer.  Scattered is definitely the operative word here.  I've met some writers that swear by index cards.  I know of one author who types scenes, prints it all out & then spreads it across the floor as she pieces together her story.  I once read that Anne Rice writes elaborate character sketches & ideas all over her office walls.  Visual images kept floating in my head like dust mites so I knew I needed some format that would capture the flavor.  I decided to try a storyboard even though I have no real idea what I'm doing.  This picture doesn't capture the board entirely & I know I have more to add but once I started working on this I began to feel lighter.  I'm curious to hear how others begin organizing their ideas...

  2. Found you via Dawn at Life Lines Journaling... Love the concept of your blog. I'm still trying to figure out how to organize my thoughts and still keep the creativity flowing or even better to enhance creativity. I am a huge Maya Angelo fan and I once read that she actually rents a hotel room away from her home just to write. She allows her soul to reveal itself. It's interesting how God has made us all so unique.

Thank you for sharing this concept! I wish you much success on your first fiction novel!

    Love and blessings!

  4. Great to see you all!
Kathy - what a luxury that would be to rent a hotel room...I might not make it back home!

  5. I find this to be very interesting process. For me I keep notes on my writing notebook or my computer. I have never scattered them on the floor or my walls. I'll try that to see if the muses just whisper more details. For my characters I use references from real life, get a picture, imagine their behavior, the mannerisms, expressions, and even get a picture as a reminder. It's a fun part of creating which can make you mad or very very happy with your creative process.
